Charles Whitener

CEO

Charles Whitener, CEO of Western Electric. Mr. Whitener is a serial entrepreneur. For the first five years after attending Georgia Institute of Technology and graduating from Rhodes College in 1976 with a degree in Journalism, he was employed with several firms including Horizon Industries, Air Treads, Inc, and Tesco Inc.

In 1982, Mr. Whitener cofounded, with partner James GT Paterson, Microdynamics Corporation. Microdynamics began its research and development plan at Georgia Institute of Technogy’s incubator. Microdynamics was the first startup company accepted into the Advanced Technology and Development Center, originally located on 14th Street in Atlanta. Microdynamics developed and manufactured automated fiber co-mingling equipment and machine vision enabled automatic inspection equipment for customers including Milliken, BASF, Allied Signal, Hoechst, DuPont, etc. He holds five patents in the field. In 1985 he also began investing in commercial real estate. Mr. Whitener sold Microdynamics in 1990 to SpinLab, Inc.

In 1983, Mr. Whitener co-founded Peachtree Laser, Inc and in 2000 he co-founded Tube Depot, LLC.

In 1992, Mr. Whitener, in cooperation with AT&T, resumed manufacturing of electron tubes within the Western Electric Kansas City Works in Lee Summit, Mo.

In 2007, Mr. Whitener sold his commercial real estate holdings in Atlanta and moved to Lookout Mountain, GA. Mr. Whitener is still very active in commercial real estate with ownership of the former ABB/Combustion Engineering building in Chattanooga, TN, the former Wachovia Bank building (now the current headquarters for Western Electric) in Rossville, GA and the former BASF research facility (now the headquarters for The Dixie Group) in Dalton, GA.

In 1998 Mr. Whitener married Jennifer Cardell of Atlanta GA. Jennifer is owner and CEO of Bridge Innovate, Inc USA and is a partner with Bridge Consulting UK. Jennifer was previously director of executive leadership training for Ernst and Young LLP. The Whitener family actively participates in providing leadership in the development of the surrounding communities.


Tim Walsh

CTO

Mr. Walsh, Chief Technolgy Officer, joined Western Electric early 2016 to provide guidance in technology strategies to support and enable innovation, manufacturning, operations, marketing and sales.

January 2011, Mr. Walsh became President and CEO of SimCenter Enterprises, Inc. (SCE), a non-profit 501(c)(3), is the result of a successful collaboration of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, the SimCenter: National Center for Computational Engineering (SC:NCCE), and private enterprise. SCE has been organized for the establishment and of charitable, scientific, and educational activities by assisting in identifying, developing, and promoting practical and commercial applications for software and programs developed within the academic and research endeavors of the SC:NCCE.

In 2010, Walsh joined TBI Labor Tech, Inc as President and COO. Repositioned and restructured the company for entry into federal government contracting. The company was renamed TBI Services Group, Inc. to reflect the broader range of managed services.

In 2002, Walsh joined epipeline as Chairman, President and CEO responsible for the strategic direction, revenue growth and financial performance of the company as well as customer satisfaction for the company’s clients. Acquired and merged B2GSource Inc. in 2005. In 2007, epipeline was acquired by Mediagrif Interactive Technologies, a Canadian public company. Walsh continued to serve as President until 2010.

In 1999, Walsh also held the positions of co-founder, President and COO at SignCast, Inc., an Internet-based media company specializing high quality internet delivered full motion video to large screen LCD displays in life style venues. Developed new Internet based capabilities enabling interactive commerce between consumers and advertisers.

Prior to working at SignCast, Walsh served as Vice President of Professional Services at PictureTel Corporation (1995 – 1999). He was responsible for managing PictureTel University and creating several new lines of businesses: Video Conferencing Consulting Practice, Custom/Integration Services, Client Services, and Global Interactive Multi-Point and Streaming Conference Services, serving Fortune 2000 companies. Under his leadership, PictureTel became the world’s largest single operator-owned international video conferencing service providing customers high quality end-to-end managed services.

During his 21 years (1974 to 1995) at Digital Equipment Corporation, he held several key positions, including: Manager of Training Operations, Worldwide Marketing Manager of Customer Training with sales of $300M, Corporate Sales Training Manager, and Director Sales Automation. He was recognized for his vision in applying technology to solving real business problems by creating and implementing a worldwide just-in-time on-line printing operations for Digital’s 126 training centers. In 1992, Walsh pioneered Digital’s sales force automation systems (CRM), resulting in Digital Equipement Corp receiving the 1996 CMP’s InternetWeek and Network Computing “Best On the Internet” (BOTI) award. This application was the early forerunner to Sales Force Automation and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems.

He served eight years in the U.S. Navy (1966 -1974), Naval Tactical Data Systems. Walsh was educated in Engineering, Computer Science, Business and Executive Management at Boston University, INSEAD (Paris) and the University of Virginia, Darden School.
